LSH one of best places to work

Australia’s biggest Mercedes-Benz retailer gets AFR employment gong

IT’S business is about selling star cars and now Australia’s biggest Mercedes-Benz retail group, LSH Auto Australia, has been named as one of the best places to work.

It has been recognised in the AFR BOSS Best Places to Work 2022 as a business in which employees feel empowered, motivated and engaged and where a positive team culture drives high levels of individual career satisfaction and group achievement.

LSH was also the only automotive business named in the list. It was also in the top three companies in the broad retail, hospitality, tourism and entertainment category.

The AFR BOSS Best Places to Work list is an annual list, judged by behavioural science consultancy Inventium, that ranks Australia and New Zealand’s best workplaces across 10 industry categories.

It focuses on the policies and actions organisations take to attract, develop and retain top talent. Inclusion in the awards list is a significant independent expert acknowledgement of having created an inclusive, supportive and career enhancing place to work.

The list assessment is underpinned by the Workplaces of the Future framework, which has been developed by Inventium, and entrants participate in a confidential staff survey, which needs to be answered by a representative sample of employees and which accounts for 50 per cent of the score.

The second part of the assessment is a written submission relating to the organisation’s practices, programs and policies.

In addition to a positive staff survey, LSH was cited for its unique blending of CSR initiatives and recognition of staff contribution to community and team culture, in the form of the Choice Awards, was mentioned as an innovation that played a role in the company’s high ranking.

The Choice Awards recognise employees who go above and beyond in their role or in their community, promoting the organisation’s core values, and in fostering a collaborative work culture.

Every quarter, three people are recognised for their contribution and all awardees go into the running for the Annual Choice Award. The recipient nominates a charity of their choosing to which a $500 donation is made on their behalf.

The Choice Awards are in addition to LSH Auto Australia’s external CSR initiatives, which include major support of Street Side Medics, the Chain Reaction Challenge Foundation, recent support of the BCA’s BizRebuild program and support of the Project Sapphire Ocean Protection initiative. All of which are activated with opportunities for LSH Auto team members to contribute and participate.

LSH Auto Australia managing director, John Good, said: “The AFR BOSS Best Places to Work recognition validates our constant striving to be an employer of choice in our industry and leader in employee engagement.

“It is particularly pleasing that such recognition resulted from significant team input to the assessment process through the comprehensive staff survey.

“That we managed to navigate the challenges of the past two years and retain such a positive connection with our entire team is a great result for all. I want to thank each team member for their contribution to this result.

“The award makes us confident that as a nationwide team we share a dedication to creating a motivational and collaborative culture, being a valued and contributing community member and always providing outstanding customer service.”

The AFR BOSS Best Places to Work 2022 list and details on those recognised can be found in a special edition of AFR BOSS published with the April 27 Australian Financial Review.
