The critical service, facilitated by the provision of Mercedes-Benz Valente vans, is part of the leading work of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital’s Transplant Institute (RPATI).
Founded in 2006, the mission of the RPATI is to promote and support transplant research projects undertaken by scientists and transplant clinicians working at RPA, the University of Sydney and the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. The work is focused on converting innovative ideas into high quality research and on improving community education by raising awareness and promoting organ donation and transplantation.
Amongst the world-leading scientific and clinical research is cutting-edge work on addressing key challenges facing transplantation medicine, such as the need for immunosuppressant therapy and the prolonging of post-donation organ viability. The aim is to advance the knowledge of transplant healthcare professionals and create treatments that will contribute to prolonged, improved health for all transplant patients.
